Starting from 2014, the city of Castelnovo ne’ Monti has been interested by the construction of a new bypass road, designed to reduce the passage of heavy vehicles in the city centre.
The infrastructure insists on a slope, characterized by consistent surface displacements.
Two MUMS Vertical Array systems have been installed during 2014 in order to monitor the retaining wall and the terrain upstream. Monitoring ended during November 2016.
The site was instrumented with two Vertical Array tilt chain, with the following characteristics:- 12.5 m length;
- 21 Tilt Link V sensors (spaced 50 cm);
- 1 Load Link (load cell)
During the monitoring, control unit queried nodes at defined time intervals, saving the raw data into a SD card. Data were transmitted to the elaboration centre with UMTS router, where an automatic software elaborated them. Results were available on a web platform with security-controlled access in a few minutes.
