START OF THE MONITORING

June 2013

DESCRIPTION

Boschetto (560 m a.s.l.) is a little town in the province of Parma, with a secular landslide. During the spring of 2013, following a period of heavy rain, landslide was reactivated and caused the disruption of few houses and the interruption of an important road, with the consequent isolation of the valley upstream. A MUMS system was installed in 2013 to monitor the slope deformations and predict future events based on triggering alarms. The monitoring came to an end at September 2018.

The chain was 24.75 m long and was composed by 44 nodes at a distance of 0.5 m. Control unit queried nodes at defined time intervals, saving the raw data into a SD card. In the first monitoring period, data were transmitted to the elaboration centre with UMTS connection. Later, an operator manually sent them by email once a month.
